Cher began her career at the age of 17 from the pop/rock duo Sonny & Cher when their song "I Got You Babe" became an overnight hit in 1965. In 1979 she legally changed her name to Cher, with no surname or middle name. Belinda first venture into music as drummer for the punk band The Germs in 1977. Soon after leaving this band, she founded The Go-Go's(all girl band) in 1978. The Go-Go had hits such as "Vaction", "Head over Heels,", "We Got the Beat" and "Our Lips Are Sealed". In 1985, Astley was a drummer with a soul band named FBI when he was noticed by the record producer Pete Waterman, who persuaded him to come to London to work at the PWL recording studio under the production team known as Stock Aitken Waterman. Astley starting off as the recording studio 'tea boy'.
His first single "When You Gonna"released as a collaboration with Lisa Carter was the little-known but his first solo offering was "Never Gonna Give You Up", released in 1987. It became an immediate success, spending five weeks at the top of the British charts and becoming the year's highest-selling single. He also released hits such as Together Forever, She Wants To Dance With Me, When I fall In Love, and the list goes on... His latest hit "Sleeping" from "Keep It Turned On" was released in 2002.
